Plummer Parsons (now Galloways Accounting)
Plummer Parsons (now part of Galloways Accounting) wanted to strengthen how their team approached time and energy management in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. As workloads increased and expectations evolved, there was a clear need to move beyond traditional “to-do list” thinking and adopt more intentional, modern approaches to managing both time and capacity.
As a team of accountants, they knew how their business could perform better through stronger utilisation. In addition, the leadership team had a mixture of long-standing partners and newer members, but all of whom had people management responsibilities. If they could improve and develop good time management habits, then there would be a ripple effect through the business. Our time management training session with follow on coaching was selected as the best solution to this challenge.
Firstly, we delivered a 90-minute interactive time management training session focused on practical, modern time and energy management strategies. Then 4 weeks later, a 60-minute group coaching session to embed the application of the learning and assist with creating better habits.
The training session explored proven tools and tactics, including prioritisation frameworks, boundary setting and planning rhythms, but crucially, we went deeper than process alone. Through facilitated discussion, the team reflected on the attitudes and assumptions that can quietly undermine productivity. We encouraged honest conversation around what was and wasn’t working.
Four weeks later, we facilitated the group coaching session to complement the time management training. This follow-up created space for reflection and refinement. For those who had already trialled new approaches, we explored what had worked, what hadn’t, and why. For others, the session provided strategic discussion, a sounding board for ideas, habit-building strategies, and addressing concerns around sustaining change.
The combined time management training and coaching approach ensured this wasn’t a one-off event. It created accountability for making change happen.
“The course element was very well presented and really got us all thinking about our methods to manage our time. Quantifying the cost of half an hour lost per employee per day, over a year, was a really good way to get us all to see the true cost of being inefficient and let’s face it a great way to engage a group of accountants by talking in numbers! The course was tailored to our needs making every element relevant to us, using real life examples to really bring the methods to life.
The follow-on coaching was really very useful. It was especially useful to go over the methods we had tried and discussed what went well and what still needed improvement. Doing this as a group meant we could share ideas and give each other a slightly different perspective on the same issues, giving a real ‘in it together’ feel. It gave us the opportunity to ask specific questions on method implementation and get very specific advice back on how to approach any difficulties we had faced trying to put in place the methods learnt in the first session.”
