Illustrating business excellence with our coaching success stories
Before business owners come to UK Growth Coach, they’re usually not in crisis. In fact, most are doing okay. The business is functioning and nothing is on fire, but equally, it is not flying.
In this month’s vlog, director and business coach Tim Rylatt explores what “just okay” actually looks like for many small businesses, and uses some of our coaching success stories to illustrate what is possible when things start to move into the “genuinely brilliant” territory.
From reducing stress and working hours to hitting new profit milestones, Tim shares two real-world examples that show how coaching makes a meaningful difference to people’s lives.
🎥 Watch the vlog above, and read on for the highlights.
What does “just okay” look like?
You are probably familiar with some of these common sticking points:
- Growth is slow, static, or just fine
- Recruiting is hard, or the team you have is not performing as you would like them to be
- Profitability is ticking over, but it is not exciting
- Culture feels flat, disjointed, or underwhelming
- You, the owner, are probably working far too many hours to keep it all going.
If any of this sounds uncomfortably familiar, you are not alone. Many of the business owners we speak to feel the same. They’re working hard, but it’s not translating into the results or lifestyle they want.
It is not about a lack of effort or willingness on their part, rather, it is usually because they have not yet had the outside input, objectivity, or know-how to make the shift from “okay” to “exceptional”.

What does great really look like?
Tim shares two coaching success stories that highlight what transformation can actually look like:
From 80 hours a week to enjoying family time
One client, an accountancy practice owner, came to UK Growth Coach working 80 hours a week. After building better systems and a stronger team, he is now working around 45 hours, and the business is more profitable.
He has reclaimed his evenings, weekends, and holidays. The work-life balance is back as well as greater returns and profit.
A family manufacturing business hits £1m turnover
A brother-sister duo running a manufacturing business had been stuck in the slow lane for years. They were great at what they did but lacked business training.
With coaching support, they refined their marketing and sales systems, and for the first time in 30 years, hit £1m turnover. Profit has grown too, and they are now thinking strategically about the future.
More than just numbers
At UK Growth Coach, we absolutely focus on the numbers. Strategy, profit, performance; it has to be taken seriously..
However, what matters most is what those improvements mean for the people behind the business: less stress, more confidence, more time, and better lives.
That is what gets us fired up every day!
